View Lights in Motion GalleryMarco Coching’s “Lights in Motion” exhibits at Power Plant Mall, Makati
Show runs from January 20 – February 4, 2020“Lights in Motion” depicts the beauty of light and the delicacy of Marco Coching’s abstract elements, enabling him to capture the range of variations in value and color that light reveals, from striking to subtle.
The driving force behind his exhibit is an enduring interest in the human spirit, its emotional resonance and the way it manifests in life. Utilizing painting and drawing techniques, Coching’s work examines the personal and universal exchanges found in abstract art, yet through expressive color, luminosity, and gestural mark marking, successfully diverts painting from historical and hierarchical structures.
Marco Coching continuously depicts his fascination with the details of the visual world. He constantly analyzes the profusion of colors and textures in nature, and the myriad qualities of light that can transform an ordinary scene into something luminous. The artist is drawn to patterns in nature, as well as the ways patterns coincide with each other. The notion of temporality is central in his process; documenting human connections, dialogues and relationships as they morph over time.
A graduate of Fine Arts from the University of Santo Tomas, Marco “Macoy” Coching is the Grandson of National Artist Francisco V. Coching, the “Dean of Filipino Illustrators”. Macoy took on a different approach in terms of his visual storytelling, and his solo show at Power Plant Mall titled “Lights in Motion” is a presentation of the artists’s conceptual take on luminous hues and abstracted forms.
Coching’s “Lights in Motion” will be on view at the R1 Level of the New Wing of Power Plant Mall in Makati City from January 20 – February 4, 2020. Opening reception is scheduled on Sunday, January 29. For inquiries, contact Galerie Joaquin at (+63) 917 534 3942 or (+63) 2 87239418 or email info@galeriejoaquin.com.
