For “Bright Side of the Moon: A Tribute”, Faico has chosen to share and express through sculpture a journey well lived, a window into an exciting, magical and ethereal voyage. The show depicts a deep reflection on one’s passage or transition, a show of respect for the simple and subtle rhythms and elements in life as they are in nature.

Faico is one giant of an artist. He is the Founder and Creative Director at Large of the Hoseki Jewelry Art, a highly respected jewelry brand and the country’s premier jewelry salon.

More than a decade ago, a friendship was struck between Faico and one of the great masters of Philippine art, Juvenal Sanso. They would meet regularly at exhibit openings and art events, until Sanso, noticing Faico’s talent, suggested that they work together on a sculpture line. Sanso showed Faico several of his paintings and urged the jewelry artist to pursue sculptural interpretations of his works. Sanso proved to be a mentor, a teacher, as well as a bosom friend.

“Bright Side of the Moon” is Faico's tribute to his friend, the great master Sanso. Although taking inspiration from the master’s themes, he has contributed greatly his own creativity and has now made it his own. He has adapted decorative elements particular to Asian jewelry, such as coral, lacquer, and enamels. His designs range from liberal interpretations of island rock formations, coral reefs, and abstracted minerals of the sea. Faico himself has been enraptured by the enchantment of the sea, having been crafting jewelry using pearls and corals in his lifelong work.

As an artist, Faico interprets and represents beauty as he sees it. His works focus largely on natural subjects, both representing grace and beauty. In his artworks, Faico leaves part of the sculpture in its natural rough form, to create a textural contrast with the polished base. His oeuvre is a merger of painting and sculpture. As an artist he sculpts the individual pieces in order to form a painterly image. “Bright Side of the Moon: A Tribute” is Faico’s poetic expression, a state of mind for this intrepid and highly creative artist. It is his visual diary celebrating the beauty and peace he himself has found in nature.

Faico is a multi-talented, award-winning artist. He was included in the South Sea Pearl Consortium’s “White Magic”, a travelling exhibition and publication featuring works by 17 world-renowned jewelry artists. With three consecutive wins in the International South Sea Pearl Design Competition under his belt, Faico continues to innovate in his chosen field.
