Lumen Naturae, a 4-man Seascape Exhibition

at Power Plant Mall, Makati Works by Vic Bachoco, Amado Hidalgo, Abe Orobia, and Rowin Obrero on view from January 15 to 31

There is a kind of alchemy, translating a raw material of one’s experience of the ocean and field, to unite opposites — to integrate the conscious and the unconscious. To see this light is to become conscious, which frees the spirit that is hidden and trapped inside the materialized world. The participating artists for “Lumen Naturae” focus on looking intently, listening and painting this ocean, this land, for what it can reveal to each of these artist’s spirit.

The expansive, unrelenting power of nature, contrasted with the churn and grind of surviving and thriving – is the underpinning, the conversation that artists Vic Bachoco, Amado Hidalgo, Abe Orobia, and Rowin Obrero paint using different stories; through their individual spontaneous response to living right through an experience and out the other side.

The artists want their work to be more than regional expression. The paintings are successful if the paint astonishes first with its physical presence, then summons the essence of a place. Bachoco, Hidalgo, Orobia, and Obrero want their paintings to have first a memory of ocean, water, air or land — then connect the audience with the spirit that leaves an awareness that all is one with nature.

“Lumen Naturae” will be on view from January 15 to 31, 2021 at the Galerie Joaquin Pop-Up Gallery, R1 Level, New Wing of Power Plant Mall, Makati City. For inquiries, contact Galerie Joaquin at +63 917 5822115 or email info@galeriejoaquin.com.
