Presented by Galerie Joaquin, “Beyond Limits” is proudly exhibited at their prestigious gallery in Rockwell Power Plant Mall, showcasing Kenneth Montegrande’s bold artistic journey in his 22nd solo exhibition. Known for his evocative cloud and seascapes, Montegrande pushes past his comfort zone to present fresh, compelling works that explore new creative frontiers while remaining anchored in his spiritual purpose.

In this latest collection, Montegrande introduces the Lighthouse Series and the Galleon Series, expanding his signature cloud and seascapes with themes of guidance, resilience, and exploration. His atmospheric compositions echo the sublime, reminiscent of J.M.W. Turner’s masterful landscapes, where light and movement become metaphors for transcendence. Like Turner, Montegrande captures the ethereal beauty of nature, using expressive strokes and a luminous palette to evoke emotion and introspection. These new series embody his continuous pursuit of artistic growth, mirroring the steadfast presence of light and direction amid the vast and unpredictable sea. In addition, he ventures into a new dimension of abstraction with a figurative abstract piece, further solidifying his commitment to evolving as an artist.

Beyond his artistic achievements, Montegrande holds a distinguished place in the art world. He is collected by the Malacañang Museum, a rare honor that places his work among pieces of national cultural significance, reflecting his contribution to Philippine art. Additionally, he is the first Filipino artist to be collected by Yusaku Maezawa, the renowned Japanese billionaire art collector and entrepreneur. Maezawa, known for his record-breaking acquisitions of works by Basquiat and other iconic artists, has an eye for groundbreaking contemporary talent. Being included in such a prestigious collection further elevates Montegrande’s stature on the global stage, cementing his impact beyond national borders. His works have also been exhibited abroad to great acclaim, with sold-out solo exhibitions at the Philippine Center, New York in 2022 and at the Hong Kong Visual Arts Center in 2023.

Despite his desire to break boundaries, Montegrande remains steadfast in his faith. For him, pushing beyond the limits does not mean forsaking the guidance of God but rather embracing growth within divine providence. He believes that his talents are a responsibility entrusted to him by God, and his journey of artistic expansion is undertaken in obedience to that trust, unfolding in God's perfect time.

A hallmark of Montegrande’s artistic practice is his dedication to philanthropy. Throughout his career, he has chosen charitable beneficiaries for his solo exhibitions, including the International Christian Ministries, Escuela Taller Foundation and Fundacion Sansó. This year, he continues this tradition by donating part of the proceeds from “Beyond Limits” to People Asia’s supported charity, Operation Damayan of Philippine Star. In addition, Montegrande is set to embark on another meaningful collaboration with the esteemed Juvenal Sansó. He will complete an unfinished work by Sansó, which will be auctioned at Fundacion Sansó in August to benefit their fine arts student stipend program. Through “Beyond Limits”, Kenneth Montegrande reaffirms his artistic and spiritual devotion—breaking creative barriers while remaining grounded in faith and generosity. His journey is not just a personal evolution but a testament to the transformative power of art, inspiring and uplifting both his audience and fellow artists alike.
